RSL Active - Yoga (Belmont Rnd3) - 60min beginner friendly yoga (24Sep24)
In this weeks session for RSL Active - Belmont session 3 instructor Andy (Yoga mate) guides the participants through a 60min beginner friendly (start/stop) yoga session.
Building on the previous weeks the theme was "I am connected to breath" where the focus was on exploring spaces (deep (belly), thoracic (chest), clavicle (traps) and the introduction of Ujayi (Ocean) breath through stages where the particpants were offered choice to engage and explore this type of breathing with their movements.
Arrival - Grounding, Theme Setting, Ujayi
Warm up - Seated mountain, seated twist, seated side bend + cactus arms
Cat / Cow (including chair modification), toes stretch
Standing & Main Flow - (modified) Sun Salutation A - transitioning from:
Mountain, Extended Mountain, Forward Fold, Halfway Lift, Plank, walk to halfway lift, Mountain
Lying / Chair & Finale - Lying wind release pose (single leg) L+R, Lying wind release pose (single leg) pulling knee toward opposite shoulder L+R, included chair yoga variations. Savasana (corpse pose), Revisit theme & OM
Our participants explored these transitions for their own body connecting movement with breath and where the air goes in various poses with the view of being able to automatically use the sequence most appropriate for their body on that day.
